Have you ever thought of blaming somebody because you had a good time? No, of course not. But you're happy to blame people when you find yourself upset or mad.
Humans don't teach each other to ignore that loud, obnoxious voice in their heads. We actually teach each other to pay attention to it, buy into it, even accept the insults it dishes out.
This first part of the journey is the most bumpy. It's when the most fear and anxiety show up. It's when you question your existence the most. It's when you wonder why you're doing these things.
This process is continual. The mind loves to get stuck in thought loops, especially in relation to problems it can't immediately solve. The more you redirect your mind, the less likely you are to get stuck in those thought loops. The mind will quiet down. It just takes time.
The first step of consciousness or paying attention to your mind, is really important. Paying attention to what the mind is doing with what it perceives around you will give you some immediate insights into your own behavior.
The mind is often a crazy place to hang out. We all have a voice in our heads that chatters on incessantly about nothing. Sometimes it can be mean or cruel and other times it just spews nonsense.
